The Role of Faith and Reform in Social Work

Jul 22, 2025

Social work is not merely a profession—it is a calling rooted in compassion, justice, and transformation. For me, the integration of faith and reform has been central to this mission, shaping my approach to empowering marginalized communities.

Faith provides the moral foundation for social work, instilling values of service, empathy, and resilience. Whether through my work with YMCA India, Civitan International, or grassroots NGOs, I have seen how spiritual conviction fuels sustainable change. Yet, faith alone is not enough—it must be coupled with structural reform.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s teachings remind us that justice requires systemic action. As Principal Investigator at Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, I advocate for policy-driven interventions—bridging gaps in education, caste equity, and legal rights. True reform demands academic rigor, advocacy, and institutional accountability, ensuring marginalized voices shape the solutions meant for them.

At Aryavart International University, we blend these principles, fostering social workers who are both heart-driven and change-oriented. The future of social work lies in this balance: faith to inspire, and reform to transform.
